Manhasset Specialty Company, the world leader in music stands, was having a hard time keeping up with the sales demand. As an employee owned company they wanted to add output without adding more people. The facility was in the middle of several capital projects so available space and budget were top concerns. The goals:
Byron Automation designed a system to reduce post production to a single person. The line consists of an automatic box erector which feeds a tilt station - where the single operator puts the product in the box. The filled carton then proceeds thru a case sealer and integrated, inline print heads for model/UPC marking. An ABB 660 Robot fitted with a vacuum tool picks and places an empty pallet and then palletizes the sealed boxes. The full pallet proceeds to a fully automatic stretch wrapper and then finally to a series or pallet accumulation conveyors.
